THE KREWE OF ROMANY

The Krewe of Romany is the longest reigning all-ladies Mardi Gras Krewe in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1949, nine imaginative and creative ladies formed the Krewe for the purpose of presenting an annual Mardi Gras Ball, with the court being the debutante daughters of its members.

Rich in tradition, many families stay in this krewe for decades—with multiple family members serving as Ball Captains, Queens, Maids, Kings and Pages. The annual theme is the creation of the reigning Ball Captain, each of whom has continued the great Romany tradition of presenting exceptional enjoyment to audiences during the Mardi Gras seasons for over 72 years.
